Hi and welcome to my little page of programming microcontrollers in MicroPython and other software development related topics.

My name is Stefan, born ’76 and I like to do sports – bodyweight training, Yoga, bouldering and swimming if I find some spare time gaming and Monty Python. I am a father of twin girls who will be five soon. This has teached me to be more responsible, loving, caring and especially patient many stupid dad jokes. I think this has transferred to the way I work.

Having studied computer science and media at my beloved HdM in Stuttgart many years ago, I work as a senior software engineer developing Java modules, Python scripts and speech related handling in a DSL at a company in the automotive sector. I love to try out new stuff and learn other languages and that led me to Python and by accident to Raspberry Pico and MicroPython. Since then I kept thinking about cool and useful IoT devices, the hardware and software environment neede to integrate them nicely and how to build and program these little devices as smart as I and my friend Google could imagine.

I really enjoy bringing my ideas to life and build the connection from software to hardware. Having built and coded the little devices and seing them doing their job nicely gives me joy and often ideas to make them even better.

As much as I like to keep it practical there’s no single bought ready to use IoT in my house (yet). The diversity of apps to use is just too much pain i.t.a. and not knowing how they are programmed / how much they pollute with WiFi traffic, I consider the time spent to learn about this field well spent. Additionally this led me to be able to do Python related stuff at work, which is very refreshing.
